veas Inside Nature’s Giants.
Inside Nature’s Giants es una serie
británica de documentales sobre el funcionamiento interno de grandes animales.
Emitido por primera vez en Junio de 2009 por el Channel 4, y actualmente emitiéndose por la PBS (EEUU), esta serie pretende llevarnos al interior de estos
gigantes para ver cómo han evolucionado y descubrir los secretos de su
adaptación a través de la disección. El programa está conducido por Mark Evans
y cuenta con la colaboración del evolucionista Richard Dawkins; las disecciones
son dirigidas por la anatomista comparativa Joy Reidenberg. Los animales
diseccionados son tanto ballenas, pitones, osos polares, como grandes felinos,
caballos de carreras y muchos otros; y aunque la disección sea el hilo
conductor de la serie se relaciona completamente con el comportamiento y las
adaptaciones del animal.
Actualmente
también se puede ver esta serie en el Canal 33 (un canal de la televisiónautonómica catalana), bajo el nombre de Entranyes
bestials y fue
allí donde lo descubrí. Me parece un programa muy didáctico, interesante tanto
para biólogos como para aquellos que saben bien poco sobre animales.
Personalmente, hay dos capítulos de los que he visto hasta ahora que me han
impactado: el del Casuario común (Casuarius
unnappendiculatus) y el del dromedario (Camelus
dromedarius).

Inside Nature’s Giants is a British
TV documentary series about how big animals work inside. First emitted in June
2099 in Channel 4, and actually being
emited in PBS (USA), this series has
the aim to take us into the inside of these giants to observe how they have
evolved and to discover their adaptation secrets through dissections. The
program is driven by Mark Evans and it also appears the evolutionist RichardDawkins; dissections are directed by the comparative anatomist Joy Reidenberg. Dissected
animals are whales, pythons, polar bears, big cats, etc; although the
dissection marked the main course of the program, it is all related with the
animal behavior and its adaptations.
Now we can watch this series at
Canal 33 (an autonomic catalan television channel) with the name of Entranyes bestial and there is where I
discovered the series. I think this is a very didactical program, interesting
for biologist as well as other people who know nearly nothing about animals.
Personally, I was amazed with two chapters of what I could watch until now: the
northern Cassowary (Casuarius
unnappendiculatus) and the camel (Camelus
dromedarius).
